Cinnamon helps in blood glucose regulation
Cinnamon Tea - Cinnamomum zeylanicum
Origin: Indonesia
Used part: Bark
Description:
Used in the East for thousands of years as a medicinal herb, cinnamon (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum) is a tree native to Asia, more specifically Sri Lanka. Much appreciated in cooking, it has a striking, sweet taste with a light spicy touch. It is also widely used to scent environments because of its equally attractive aroma.
Research and scientific studies confirm that cinnamon is considered a healthy and functional food, aiding in several important organic functions. And its infusion is even better because it potentiates its effects.
Health benefits:
Cinnamon provides many benefits to our health, and the main one is related to its high concentration of antioxidants. They are important because they fight against free radicals, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, combat premature aging and are able to repair cellular damage throughout the body, from the skin to the internal organs.
Cinnamon (and its infusion) improves energy utilization (glucose) in the blood, helps modulate levels of the stress hormone and has digestive and antiseptic actions. Another important and well-known benefit is its ability to increase insulin sensitivity, that is, the hormone that targets glucose (sugar) in the body's cells. By helping to balance cholesterol, cinnamon also minimizes the chances of heart disease and is a natural anticoagulant, aiding in cases of arthritis, varicose veins and joint pains.
We can also highlight its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action and its efficiency in relieving symptoms of colds; bowel disorders such as bloating, cramps and diarrhea; and even decrease fatigue and stress. In addition, cinnamon is rich in iron, calcium, fiber and manganese, and acts on connective tissues and the thyroid gland. Studies also show that it helps to relieve intense muscle pain, thanks to nutrients such as sucrose and tannin.
